OPASCOR’s People Development Plan contains a preview of government and company- initiated past and planned programs intended to enhance the skills of the workers as the organization prepares itself for bigger challenges in the new millennium.


THE NEED FOR CONTINUING PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT
To compete in the future, OPASCOR’s workers must unlearn some of its past especially the attitude of complacency, contentment on traditional methods, and resistance to changes. As the industry becomes more competitive, there is a need to inculcate among the workers the value of continuing personal skills development, discipline, productivity, foresight, customer service, and competitive spirit.

OPASCOR, being a workers enterprise, is looking toward the development of its human capital. The company believes that its workers can be transformed best into partners in business if they are continually developed to reach their potential. OPASCOR believes that workers competencies and expertise must be upgraded periodically for the organization to become competitive in the industry.

Human sources, like any other assets of the organization, should grow in worth so that their utilization reaches to the maximum strength and power. The need to upgrade the human resources to adjust to fast changing environment is very critical to the survival of the organization in the face of global competition.


OBJECTIVE - PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

The People Development Plan has the following objectives:
· Provides workers opportunities for continuing skills development;
· Assures the workers that they are recognized as valued members and partners of the organization;
· Encourage individual progress within the organization through continued job proficiency, career pathing, and professional guidance;
· Commits the resources of the company to developing an effective workforce that is competitive and highly disciplined in the industry.
